Robert Metcalf, Mechanical Engineer for Zipflat, designs many of the innovations behind the product.  Having worked in the aerospace industry where he analyzed the performance of conceptual hypersonic spacecraft and designed cryogenic fuel systems for rockets, Robert has made a career of problem-solving. He also spent two years as an expediter for architects and contractors, helping them navigate approval processes for California’s many building departments and now Robert is committed to using his technical skills, resourcefulness and hands-on approach to producing a simple, cost effective housing system.

In his spare time Robert enjoys tutoring Physics and Advanced Mathematics to college and high school students, converting diesel cars to run on vegetable oil, and completing the 7-year renovation to his home.
